  • Abstract
    Modelling of the input impedance of MESFET common-gate stages is carried out, allowing the synthesis of negative input capacitance using a simple MESFET circuit. Results derived from this model show excellent agreement with those obtained using a microwave simulator, up to frequencies close to the cut-off frequency of the devices used. The design of a receiver suitable for optical fibre transmission systems is shown to benefit from the utilisation of this structure for enhancing high frequency performance
