Abstract :
MEMS based fiberoptic devices perfectly lend themselves to avionic applications. Their small size, lightweight, low power consumption and superior reliability afford system designers the opportunity to perform complex switching and attenuation functions in current avionic platforms. With the inclusion of wavelength selective material in the design, these devices will now allow designers to realistically consider WDM solutions on aircraft as well.
