  • Abstract
Today´s premium efficiency motors for the North American market are the result of focused efforts over the last decade. The advantages of using premium efficiency motors have been discussed and well documented. The United States Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct) legislation and the Canadian Energy Efficiency Act, along with the implementation of NEMA Premiumreg efficiency levels in North America, have led to North American leadership on motor energy conservation. Could these efficiencies be extended to IEC 50 Hz motors, and what energy savings could be realized if these efficiency levels were used?
