Abstract :
A study of the magnetic flux leakage in the stator tooth-pitch was made using the ELCUT software. This software enables one to observe the places of local saturation and correct the slot dimensions in order to reduce the slot leakage inductance, which generally is a function of the slot shape. After the pitch area optimization, the slot leakage inductance was decreased by 16.4%, thus reducing the total core weight and volume by 1.7%.
