Abstract :
A new compact size linearly tapered slot antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) imaging system is proposed. Compared with the traditional tapered slot antenna which is symmetric on both sides, half of the conventional linearly tapered slot is etched on the radiator to reduce the physical size of the structure. Corrugations are applied on the radiator for further improving the antenna performance. Both simulated and measured results are presented and discussed. The proposed antenna features a small size, low-profile and low cost, and can achieve a 10-dB return loss from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz, stable radiation patterns and linear phase response, thus promising for applications in UWB radar imaging systems.
