Abstract
This paper presents a boost-resonant hybrid power supply topology designed to provide a PWM inverter with a constant but inherently current-limited DC voltage from a low-voltage source at significant power levels. The resonant topology inherently has indefinite short-circuit protection. To verify its functionality, the topology was designed for a DC-DC converter application with a 12Vdc input and 180 Vdc output. Computer simulation of the topology was conducted to verify the design and evaluate the converter´s performance. A hardware prototype was then built and assessed to examine actual operating parameters.
