Abstract :
Space-time block coding (STBC) is a powerful transmit diversity scheme due to its simplicity, effectiveness and high performance. However, the multiple-access interference (MAI) and the correlation among the downlink channels would deteriorate its performance. Beamforming is an effective means to solve these problems and increase the system capacity. For the decoding method of STBC, the receiver usually needs perfect channel knowledge, which may be acquired by using the channel estimation. Independent component analysis (ICA) scheme can directly separate the transmitted signals instead of detection using channel estimation. In this paper, we propose a scheme which combines STBC with the transmit beamforming (TBF) at the transmitter and applies ICA to implement blind detection without channel knowledge at the receiver.
