Abstract
Reviews the key adaptive control algorithms and then present examples of the practical realisations that are now available to enhance the performance of radar, communications and navigation systems. In discussing these adaptive antenna configurations, and their performances, the author concentrated on those realisations for which adequate data are in the literature or for which data sheets are readily available. When a source of reference is not otherwise indicated, information has been extracted from relevant data sheets. The likely future implementations are considered remarking on the importance of examining the need for an adaptive antenna at an early stage in the consideration of possible signal formats for new systems
