Abstract :
A challenging issue with the integration of renewable energy sources into the national power grid is the unpredictable and intermittent nature of these energy sources. With sources like solar and wind, the power extracted is related directly to the forces of nature, and is to some degree incompatible with the relatively steady demand of the US population. We propose a control scheme to manage multiple wind farms on the basis of constant power output instead of maximum power output in order to more gracefully introduce renewable power into the grid.
