Abstract
The authors´ recent development of a microcomputer and data recording system which can either record results very rapidly at one frequency (e.g. 10 GHz) or record 100 results in the frequency interval 8-12 GHz within 100 seconds, has vastly increased the capabilities and resolution of the system. The considerable advancement in result taking of this proposed system and its application to studying precipitation particles forms the main subject of this presentation. The experimental study has produced results for spherical particles of dry and wet ice. A particular feature is measured data which demonstrate the occurrence of enhanced scattering in the case of ice spheres which are coated with a thin layer of water
