Abstract :
As a result of the introduction of small cell technology used in mobile radio telephone networks, particularly the rapid expansion of NMT in Scandinavia, a requirement has arisen for a fast and efficient method of determining the ground level coverage and possible interference zones for all the base stations in the system. Theoretical predictions proved to be sufficient in rural areas but not in urban areas and especially not in bigger cities such as Stockholm where the environment is changing too much. In these areas measurement is the only method of getting an accurate view of the propagation which is essential for the planning and replanning of the network to optimize the cells to get maximum subscriber capacity with a limited number of frequencies. So the previously established helicopter system has been adapted for vehicle use in these areas
