Abstract
This paper presents a concept to relay sensor-detected information through satellite links. A sensor package uses a miniature continuously scanning directive-antenna to link to low-earth-orbiting (LEO) satellites with low power at pre-determined scanning steps and dwell times. Linking to geostationary satellites can also be done. Parametric plots determine the relationships between satellite altitudes, antenna and sensor packages sizes, data rates, dwell times and power levels.
