Abstract
The development and implementation of a computer-based tank gauging system for the Phillips Sweeny Refinery Complex is described. The complex included 193 storage tanks located at six different sites, with each site considered as a separate tank farm unit. Each tank farm system upwardly supports data collection on the pipeline computer located in the main control room. The new and upgraded tank level gauging systems incorporate servo gauges for spherical tanks, direct digital gauges for bullet tanks and float gauges with transmitters for cone and floating roof tanks. All types of these gauges offer an upgrade in performance and maintainability. Selection criteria and installation considerations are presented
