Abstract
The authors show that efficient radiation from the substrate side of the dipole can be achieved by using shaped lenses and matching layers. A theoretical model based on the solution to the half-space problem is presented. Approximate expressions for the electromagnetic fields on the hemispherical surface are derived and the far-field obtained by integration over that surface. Comparison is made with experimental results
