Abstract :
The paper shows that Ka-band inter-satellite links have moved from experimental links in space to actual manufacture of high data rate user terminals for operational use in low orbit user satellites. It outlines how an “open loop” antenna tracking approach has been adopted compared to the “closed loop” normally proposed for such links. The European Data Relay System (DRS) is discussed together with telemetry transmission
