Abstract :
Many heuristic and fuzzy techniques have been attempted for reactive power compensation of radial distribution feeders. In this paper, we review and implement a number of these methods using five actual distribution feeders. We also check the efficiency of each technique using a new variational method based on the truth table idea of logic circuits. This new simple test method has the ability to give the best results among all techniques, maximum reduction in system losses and costs, and at the same time extracts some new advantages of these heuristic and fuzzy techniques. From this study, we may decide the best heuristic and fuzzy techniques and also when the usage of fuzzy or heuristic method is better than the other.
