Abstract
RFID technology has been widely used in different business nature. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has recently adopted the RFID technology, installing a new 900 MHz RFID baggage handling system to replace the traditional infrared bar code system. Beside the technical challenges faced in the design and installation stages, workers´ human safety concern due to the radiated emission from the RFID system is also an important aspect. An EM assessment of the RFID system is carried out in the post-installation phase, and is presented here. Results have shown that the in-situ E-field level recorded for the whole system is well below the ICNIRP restricted level
