Abstract :
This paper presents the transient response of 138.75 MVA synchronous generator during severe system faults while it is connected to an infinite bus through GSU by using three different models of excitation systems (ST4B, ST1A and EX2000 models). A number of cases of simulation of power system stability during transient disturbances were studied and the performances of these three models were compared. Various options and features to provide stable operations as applied to synchronous machine connected to an infinite bus are discussed. MATLAB/SIMULINK® is used for modeling and computer traces to illustrate the transient response of the synchronous generator.
