  • Abstract
    This paper presents LiveBusTrack: a small scale real-time high frequency location update bus tracking system. Based on the use of smart phones as tracking device, the proposed approach has the ability to track vehicles automatically in realtime through our tailored made application without requiring external power in an 8 hour operating period. In addition, a customized map transformation is proposed in order to cater for areas where location is not available through standard map services such as Google Map. These features are well suited for small scale vehicle tracking service with bus stops that are closely located such as exhibitions and conferences. The proposed system has been successfully deployed in an annual exhibition, NAC 2013 held at Thailand Science Park. Quantitative and qualitative studies have been carried out in order to evaluate the proposed system. The results have shown that our system provides reliable location update through the customized map as well as satisfying our participants with positive feedbacks.
