Abstract
The paradigm of Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) permits create sophisticated entities capable of cooperating among them in order to solve complex problems. Multi-Agent Systems have recently been gaining popularity due to their effectiveness in being successfully implemented in several applications. In this study, the integrability of MAS along with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) is explored to build a framework that allows MAS to succeed in Power Systems applications such as Operation and Management of Distributed Energy Resources. Experiments that involve communication tests and power systems simulations were performed to find the best practices of integration. As a result, a novel propose of architecture is described which suggests the viability of an integrated environment by utilizing open software components such as Java Agent Development Environment (JADE) and SCADA Argos.
