Abstract :
Two different ways has been proposed to improve the wave absorbing properties of SiC within the frequency range from 2 GHz to 18 GHz. By adding 10% and 20% of nickel powder with average size of 0.2 mum to 60% of SiC by weight respectively, the absorbing properties were greatly improved, and the lowest reflection was from -7.44 dB at 16.96 GHz to -29.53 dB at 15.28 GHz with the thickness of 0.4 mm. Furthermore, better characteristics of reflection and broader frequency ranges could be gotten by a macroscopic multi-layer constructed with different ranking of nickel and SiC layers
