Abstract :
The paper presents a method based on the discrete wavelet transform for real-time detection of electromagnetic field data, radiated by a lightning return stroke channel (RSC). In the event of a cloud-to-ground lightning, the required data for locating the corresponding RSC is extracted and sent to the central station. The low memory content of the data enables one to use narrow band communication media such as twisted telephone lines for the transfer of data
