Abstract
Moving targets appear smeared or displaced in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image. In this paper, we present equations that describe moving target morphology in bistatic SAR images. These equations show the relationship between the velocity of a moving target and the positioning errors in bistatic SAR images. Our analysis is valid under arbitrary imaging geometries and can be used to estimate target velocity and to reconstruct focused target images. We show that the errors predicted by our analysis agree with the measured results in numerical simulations.
