Abstract
In this paper, 12-bit multi-channel non-calibrating dual-mode successive approximation ADC for PMBus devices is newly proposed. The proposed dual-mode data converter is attractive due to that all the requirements of the PMBus devices, which are high resolution, low-cost, dual-mode, multi-channel, and low power consumption for portable products, are successfully matched. Based upon the device parameters of 0.25 mum 1P5M CMOS technology with 3.3/2.5 V power supply, all the functions and performance of the proposed dual-mode data converter for PMBus are successfully tested and proven through SPICE simulations and verified in the measurements. The area of this chip is 1.64 times 1.56 mm2 and the measured power consumption is 1.683 mW. The proposed dual-mode data converter is suitable for power monitoring systems, such as PMBus devices.
