Abstract :
This paper gives an overview of some of the possible techniques for modelling carbon fibre composite (CFC) as part of a simulation of the lightning electromagnetic pulse problem applied to aircraft. The paper includes a brief introduction to lightning and a discussion of the electromagnetic properties of CFC, then two examples where different models of CFC have been used on actual aircraft programmes.
