Abstract :
Reactive power optimization is a complex mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. An application of primal-dual interior point method and simplified branch-bound method in reactive power optimization is proposed in this paper. Primal-dual interior point method is applied for the solution of the relaxed nonlinear programming problems and branch-bound method is applied to deal with the discrete variations. Further, a simplified branch-bound method is proposed to reduce the computational time while still getting relative optimal solution. Two test studies show that the proposed algorithm is effective to solve reactive power optimization problems.
