Abstract :
This study will determine if the VITUS smart laser scanner can produce three-dimensional surface topographies for pre- and post-surgical analysis of patients with chest wall deformities and scoliosis. This analysis will determine the accuracy, resolution and repeatability of the VITUS smart laser scanner with the use of two imaging phantoms. One phantom will determine the accuracy and repeatability of the scanner and the other will determine the scanner´s resolution. Data from these phantoms will be collected by the laser scanner and analyzed with use of a tecmath AG computer program from Human Solutions. This research will help determine if the laser scanner´s accuracy, resolution and repeatability are appropriate for these clinical applications.
