Abstract
The main advantage of Class E tuned power amplifiers is a very high efficiency (above 90%). In contrast, the power gain of the HF Class E amplifiers is low compared to conventional Class C or Class B amplifiers. The input powers of the equivalent Class E and Class B amplifiers are analyzed using the simplified model of power transistors. It is proved that the power gain of the Class E amplifier is above 2 times lower than the Class B amplifier power gain.
