Abstract :
In the late seventies, Kaiser and Hamming described a simple technique for filter sharpening that can be applied to symmetric FIR filters. We present an analogous method for producing better, "sharper," windows for use in the calculation of the discrete Fourier transform of a sequence. We present a simple method for taking a window and making the central peak of its Fourier transform narrower without affecting the window\´s rolloff.
