Abstract :
The uncertainty of transit time ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeters is relatively high (currently approximately plusmn5% (Sanderson et al., 2002)). We have studied several factors contributing to this uncertainty, focusing mainly on the separation distance between the transducers. This paper will discuss experimental work and the use of ray tracing and finite element models to examine this relationship.
