Abstract :
We investigated the possibility of adding a wide-angle converter lens on top of an existing mobile phone camera to provide a 360 degree image of the surroundings of the phone. The motivation behind this work is a possibility of a video stream from a meeting where every participant would be imaged at the same time with sufficient resolution, eliminating the need for separate conferencing equipment. While it is true that the same could be achieved with a fish-eye lens, we believe that our solution is unique and has certain advantages over the fish-eye lens in manufacturing and also in specific imagery cases.
