Abstract :
THz radiation promises a number of revolutionary applications in fields ranging from security and counter terrorism to medicine and agriculture. In most of these applications, it is often the unique penetrative and absorption properties of THz radiation that are used either for imaging or spectroscopic identification of materials/areas of interest. In such cases, it has been shown that in comparison to pulsed sources (many of which are complex and require ultra-fast laser sources [1]), continuous wave (CW) THz sources are simpler to implement and are more compatible with rapidly developing THz focal plane detection array technologies [2,3].
