Abstract :
Rapid response design is a new manufacture paradigm which comes into being in recent years, it aims to shorten developing period, improve quality of product and increase strength of rapid response to market on the part of industrial enterprises. But there are some new problems associated with it. To solve these problems, a general framework based on Product Lifecycle Management software (Teamcenter Engineering) to support rapid product design is presented and described, and product design process on the basis of the architecture is analyzed. Furthermore, several key enabling technologies, namely design resource management, virtual product modeling, collaborative design process management are discussed in detail. The system had been implemented in some enterprises; the results show it can satisfy the requirement of product rapid response design.
