  • Abstract
A microprocessors based demand control system which contains both one load management software package and one set of demand controller, has been developed to solve demand contract violated problem as well as electric energy saving for industrial and commercial customers in Taiwan power system. The load management software package coded by Visual Basic combined with C language supports the functions of load data retrieval, database management, demand contract evaluation, and load characteristics analysis. Besides, a dual-microprocessor structure is applied to form the hardware configuration of a demand controller in a reliable and efficient manner. The prototype of demand control system is then implemented and a field test with more than 8 sets of air conditioners with ratings of 5~12 kW in a school has been fulfilled over six months. Test results show that the effectiveness and performance of proposed demand control system can be justified
