Abstract :
An analysis is presented of a chopper-controlled DC series motor. The analysis takes into consideration the various nonlinearities of the motor operation, like magnetic saturation, armature reaction and eddy currents, etc. In the proposed method the parameters used for numerical solutions are obtained from tests and design specifications. The time ratio control of the chopper voltage is mainly considered. A linear model is proposed for the steady-state analysis. The computed and experimental results show good agreement and prove the validity of the proposed technique.<>
