Abstract
A method of diminishing the reactance voltage by suppressing the magnetomotive force in order to improve commutation is discussed. The authors elaborate some of the information from a previously published work concerning commutation and reactance voltage. Reactance voltage analysis, excessive armature reaction analysis, and brush contact resistance analysis are presented. Speed coverage of the suppressing effect, a suppressing circuit using a bypass condenser, and poor commutation due to mechanically unstable brushes are also discussed.<>
