  • Abstract
Globalization has translated into local business drivers of reducing costs, increasing production agility, reducing product change and roll-out times and maximizing asset effectiveness. These business drivers are requiring manufacturing organizations to perform at ever higher levels with fewer staff and at lower costs. A key response to these requirements being seen in all manufacturing segments is to more closely integrate manufacturing systems with enterprise resource planning and asset management systems. This presentation explains how open standards, such as ISA-S95, are being used to accomplish this integration with lower risk and shorter implementation times. It examines the outline definition within the S95 standard and explains how practical application of the standard can be achieved through defined business scenarios such as schedule management, batch reporting, real-time KPI alerting and optimized maintenance management
