Abstract :
This paper explores how much detailed an automotive electric system geometry can be to optimize simulation computational effort. For this purpose, simulations related to two kinds of analysis - crosstalk and external radiated disturbance - have been run through a Finite Element Method (FEM) based software and a Circuit Theory based one. Crosstalk simulated signals in time domain have been statistically compared with an inside vehicle measurement. Different complexity models have been tested in this correlation process. This procedure has been used to verify automotive geometric models´ accuracy for a certain frequency range. The main goal is to verify the computational savings by using some techniques and suppressing some negligible details of car´s geometry.
