Abstract
In this work, we present an implementation of a two-way decode-and-forward relaying scheme using network coding (NC) in Software-Defined Radio (SDR). We describe a specific medium access (MAC) protocol based on a TDMA scheme to establish robust synchronization between the terminals implemented within the open-source GNU Software Radio (GNU Radio) platform and fitted for operation with an Ettus Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) N210. Our implementation requires moderate modifications of the packet design of PHY. We validate and verify our implementation by means of representative throughput performance measurements. Our results show that network coding increases system throughput-gain.
