Abstract :
There are many factors effecting on the NOx formation and fuel characteristics are one of them. Two kinds of coal in common use by one 300MW coal-fired generating unit were chose as typical fuels. Experimentations and numerical simulations were done to study the effects of coal characteristics on NOx formation. The results of experimentations and numerical simulations were similar. In elemental analysis, nitrogen content of coal 1 was 0.81%, coal 2 was 0.83%. However, the NOx formation of burning coal 1 was higher than that of burning coal 2. Although nitrogen content of coal 2 was more than that of coal 1, the nitrogen molecular fraction of coal 1(0.813%) was higher than that of coal 2 (0.716%).
