Abstract
The streamer of the spark discharge was proposed in 1940 by J.M. Meek for positive streamers. On the basis of detailed theoretical studies, the author has found that Meek´s theory suffers from serious weaknesses in its basic concepts. It is claimed that the criterion for the onset of a streamer proposed by Meek is not a reliable criterion for the transition
