Abstract :
A study was made of thyristor steady-state ratings with due consideration given to the capability of readily available desktop computing. The selected calculation procedures result in more accurate, standard thyristor ratings. Contemporary graphic software permits the plotting of the classical rating curves, which, when transferred into desktop publishing, results in efficient and accurate steady-state rating information. Available graphics software facilitates the plotting of the classical rating curves in three dimensions. This resulting surface rating is shown to be useful in visualizing thyristor capabilities and establishing new curves and equations of the thyristor steady-state ratings
