  • Abstract
This paper analyzed the red running behaviors at urban signalized intersection. It includes unintentional red light running that is easy to arouse the sympathy of traffic managers other than intentional behavior of driver that should be punished. Based on the analysis of the driver behavior at the phase change interval, the existence of dilemma zone is regarded as an important factor, which causes unintentional red light violation for drivers. The computing for formula about relevant unintentional red light violation time and the length of dilemma zone are also analyzed. In sight of the research, the consideration of a minimum enforcement tolerance for photographing red light running and the methods for protection of dilemma zone are suggested.
