Abstract :
Swirling abrasive jet has been produced by placing the whirling element in the nozzle body. The speed function of spiral groove and conic contraction segment in inner of nozzle are analyzed. And the formulas of speed function are obtained. It is seen that movement of fluid in the spiral groove is regarded as spiral one-dimension axial symmetry, movement of fluid in the conic contraction as spiral two-dimension axial symmetry. The swirling abrasive jet system has been established. Test of drilling hole are carried out in order to investigate the whirling element parameters which influence the drilling hole performances such as the spiral groove, lead and central hole. The test results show that it is suitable that spiral groove is two, lead is 16 to 20 mm, diameter of central hole is more than 3 mm, but little than 5 mm. The process of drilling hole has been described.
