Abstract :
The aim of matching networks (MN) is to optimize the power transfer between two RF blocks, like the output of a power amplifier (PA) and the antenna´s input. The performance of the MN is difficult to anticipate when both impedances are complex. A rigorous method is proposed for calculating the efficiency of a tunable MN based on the quality factor of the components involved and the MN topology, valid for source and load complex impedances.
