  • Abstract
As a renewable material, a cationic dialdehyde starch is synthesized with cationic cassava starch, which is abundant in Guangxi Province. The cationic starch was oxidized by sodium periodate, a kind of commonly used oxidants. The different reaction conditions are taken into account. Synthesis of cationic dialdehyde starch in this experiment has the optimum conditions as following: reaction temperature of 40°C, pH value of 1.5, sodium concentration of 0.5mol / L, sodium starch molar ratio of 1.1:1, the optimum conditions reaction time is 3h. As a result, we characterized the production with IR and studied its capability as a wet-strength agent.
