Abstract
The field oriented control scheme of an induction motor drive is presented. It operates in the fundamental speed range as well as in the field weakening range. The control scheme is completely adapted to meet the requirements of an electric vehicle, a good dynamic performance and a high efficiency in steady state operation. The latter is assured by an appropriate selection of the reference current components. A high performance overcurrent protection is realized by reducing the reference current for the torque in case of inverter overload
