From Critical Infrastructure to Infrastructure Key Node — Features and functions

In the present study, we propose a concept of Infrastructure Key Node which is constructed as the most significant connector in the infrastructure network and as the point where the complexity of infrastructure system emerges. We also present the properties and features of the key node and an outlook of apposite studies. It is posited that infrastructure key node is the essential cause to the emergence of the uncertainty and vulnerability of infrastructure system. As a result, the studies of stability and reliability should begin with researching on infrastructure key node, which serves to deepen the understanding of infrastructure.
