Title :
Illustrating the power quality aspect of demand side management with compact fluorescent lamps
Author :
Gilleskie, Robert J.
Abstract :
The author notes that many demand side management (DSM) technologies incorporate electronic circuits which both cause and can be affected by power quality disturbances. Because of this he expands on the traditional definition of DSM to include the management of power quality by electric utilities. Compact fluorescent lamps are used to illustrate the importance of including power quality as a DSM activity. Using this technology, the author presents steps a utility can take to insure both that energy savings are achieved and that acceptable levels of power quality are maintained
