Abstract :
Resource perspectives play a key role in product development process management. Until recently the major share of the attention of product development researcher has stayed at process perspectives. This paper presents a complete resource concept model and a comprehensive resource meta-model as well as resource allocation policies for product development project. We define the above two models in UML class diagram. The resource concept model integrates resource type and resource entity in a complete resource structure. The resource meta-model allows for the specification of resource types (such as organizational position, role, et al.), authority, product development team and resource entity. Additional feature of resource meta-model is the tight integration of organizational structure, role structure and resource entity. At last we develop some resource allocation polices for the planning phase and the implementation phase of product development project. The policies can be used as a comprehensive macro-resolution for resource allocation according to product development properties. An important goal of this work is to support development of product development management system according to our models and resource allocation policies
